Let's wrap up 2024 with a list of random events and bits of information from the year that you didn't know you needed.
The color for 2024 was Peach Fuzz, a light, delicate shade between peach and orange.
A cryptocurrency businessman paid $6.2 million at a Sotheby’s auction for that banana. And ate it.
2024 was a Yang year (based on the Wood Dragon Year energy).
In numerology 2024 was an 8 year (the digits add up to 8 = 2 + 2 + 4. It was to be a year of strength, power, and hard work.
Japan became the 5th nation to land on the moon.
Mexico elected its first female president, Claudia Scheinbaum ~ making her the first female president in North America.
Norway now has more electric cars than gasoline ones.
Tupperware filed for bankruptcy.
Demure became the word of the year.
Omg.
So in looking for items for this year? I just became so overwhelming exhausted by humans. What a bizarre bunch of creations we are. The news is ridiculous. Or at least what we choose to report on and focus on. I had to stop my search for happenings and events for this list.
Instead? I offer you a different list, 24 things you can do to celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of the next. I share these in hope that they are more uplifting and inspiring than what I could find out there on the interwebs.
Hug someone you love.
Make a toast to world peace.
Eat 12 grapes by midnight like they do in Spain.
Create a vision board for 2025. Go crazy with what you want to happen in 2025!
Burn an effigy. But please, for goodness sake have water nearby and don't let it get out of control.
Forget resolutions and come up with some intentions instead.
Make a meal of black-eyed peas, pork, and rice.
Sweep your house, get rid of all the old energy out your door and make room for the new.
Gather with friends over a meal.
Write a list of all the things you are glad to leave behind and burn it.
Carry an empty suitcase around the block or your house to set yourself up for adventures in the coming year, a Colombian tradition.
Make a bowl of noodles for good luck and longevity in the new year.
Get outside and appreciate nature.
Write out some things you'd love to have happen in 2025, put it in an envelope, forget about it, and open it up on Dec. 31, 2025 to see how you did.
Donate food or money or something to someone or some organization.
Do an act of service on New Year's Day.
Reconnect with someone you miss.
Do something you love to do on New Year's Day to kick off the year right!
Wake up early - or stay up all night - and watch the sunrise.
If you're single and looking for connection, put a sprig of mistletoe under your pillow to dream of your future love like they supposedly do in Ireland.
Sleep in if you can and make zero plans for the day, see what comes your way instead.
Make a short list: one thing to give up, one thing to do more of, and one thing to start for the new year.
Create an altar with items you love and that bring you joy.
Forget all of this and just have a lovely new year!
Thanks for humoring me and pivoting with me friends! And thanks for being part of my year of blogging. I hope you have some lovely memories from 2024 and that 2025 brings you much happiness and abundance.
Happy New Year Everyone!
